You can. And you will.

no matter who you are, no matter what your story, the moment you give birth you’re inducted into the warrior mama club. becoming a mother automatically earns you that badge of honor. as mothers we are compassionate. we are strong. we ARE warriors. our bodies have created, grown, housed, expelled, and nourished our babies. we owe it to ourselves, our children, and women everywhere to love and respect these vessels of life. i invite you to enter this program with a renewed sense of purpose, passion, and the greatest self love imaginable. so let’s do this! together.

it’s not about getting your body back; it never went anywhere.

Look down. There it is.

It’s both unrealistic and unwarranted for anyone to put pressure on women to “bounce back” to their former physical form. I’m not in the business of supporting the mindset that we need to “bounce back”. I’m in the business of supporting your goals and choices as a woman navigating a postpartum journey.

about me

I grew up in New Jersey and attended Kent Place School, a small private girls school from third grade through graduation. I trained at the New Jersey Ballet School and North Carolina School of the Arts, and joined New Jersey Ballet’s Junior Company at fifteen. One year later I was accepted into the prestigious ballet program at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music which I graduated from in 2006. Upon graduation, after multiple injuries and much reflection, I decided to step away from dancing to pursue a graduate degree in Early Childhood Education at IU. I taught kindergarten at a low income school for a year, followed by three years of preschool.

In 2010 I changed course completely, pivoting to the world of fitness. I completed my 600 hour comprehensive pilates certification and the following year began my first yoga teacher training. Within the proceeding few years I finished my 500 hour advanced yoga studies and was teaching full time at Vibe Yoga Studio in Bloomington, Indiana. At Vibe I helped coordinate the new teacher mentorship program, led daily classes, workshops, and taught various segments of teacher training. For three years I also taught pilates, IndoRow, TRX, and yoga at Bloomington Body Bar, a small boutique fitness center in Bloomington, Indiana.

In 2016 my husband and I relocated to Washington DC where I taught classes and workshops at Faith Hunter’s studio, Embrace Yoga DC. A few months into our adventure in DC, I began taking ballet classes at The Washington Ballet just for fun and soon found myself immersed in paid projects. I reduced my yoga teaching and opened my schedule up to pursue freelance dancing projects. In late 2017 I helped form Terra Firma Dance, a contemporary ballet company based in DC as both a founding company and board member.

In November 2019 I discovered I was pregnant and by March 2020 Covid-19 changed life and group fitness as we know it. I welcomed my son Hank into the world on July 13, 2020 and found myself counting down the days until I was cleared for exercise at my 6 week postpartum check up. During those long, challenging days (and nights! oh the nights…) of the first six weeks postpartum, I realized how much I relied on physical movement to keep me feeling my best, not only physically but mentally and emotionally as well.

One night around 3 am after a particularly rough day, I came up with the idea for Warrior Mama Fitness — a virtual community for postpartum women to connect with one another and reconnect to their bodies. I conducted a beta test group with myself as a guinea pig and I am happy to report this program helped rebuild my strength, stamina, and sense of balance in every regard. I love what I do, I love this work, and I love all the pieces of my life that have come together to help me help new moms everywhere.

“It’s amazing how much stronger i feel from week 1 to week 8. i actually feel stronger now at only 4 months postpartum than i ever did before i had my daughter.”
